The brand and logo of Apple has been named the most valuable in the world
Let's hope these CUNTS sort out my phone with a new software update then as it's SHIT!

The brand and logo of Apple has been named the most valuable in the world – worth nearly $119bn (£80bn), or more than the entire gross domestic product of Morocco, Ecuador or Oman.

The Silicon Valley firm, already the world’s biggest company – with a stock market valuation of $591bn – saw its brand value increase by a 21% over the past 12 months, according to the closely followed Interbrand Best Global Brands annual report.

The fact that you realise it would cost billions to buy just the brand Apple without anything else pretty much makes the point that the brand itself is worth something.

So you think that if Apple bought a product and rebranded it without change, there would not be a bunch of people that bought it just because it was Apple? (Thereby showing the inequality and separation of the the brand and the product.) And you don't think that response is not due in part to a very good advertising ie. branding campaign over the years.

Again I think you miss the point and I am not trying to argue but looking for some clarity.

I don't recognise it would cost billions to buy the logo/brand , the article in the OP states this.

Regardless of good advertising the brand / logo as a product needs a buyer to have a value surely. Without the product it is just a logo. Spend £80bn on the logo and leave the Apple company to rebrand and launch the next iphone - you really think the consumer will go to the new apple will attract consumers when the old apple have the product?

Re: The brand and logo of Apple has been named the most valuable in the world
Or to put it another way - I've got the billions and I want to buy the brand name and logo of Apple. What do I sell under it? How will that compete with the old apple company under a new name with the products?

Re: The brand and logo of Apple has been named the most valuable in the world
I think you may have missed the point a bit.

How can the brand have a value seperate of the company/product? Especially a company like Apple and their products?

Won't last for ever...

Brand erosion and competition will change that...it happens all the time...especially in high tech...

Many examples of top brands that have fallen...

Everyone always says marketing/advertising does not affect me but it is a multi-billion dollar industry that has lasted in various forms for a very long time. If it didn't work someone would have figured it out by now and big companies who are quite good at making money would have stopped using it .

Consumers aren't thick?

You sure about that, they are a marketers dream for the most part?

Nicey 5:16 Thu Oct 9
Re: The brand and logo of Apple has been named the most valuable in the world
How do you value the brand and put a price on it outside of the company?

There is no value in someone paying the billions for the logo and then trying to sell nokias under it whilst Apple2 launch the iphone7

It's all about hype etc but consumers aren't that thick.

Marketeers perhaps you could explain.

Have to hand it to Apple's marketing dept. over the years, that and being the first to give their computers free/cheap to schools. Very decent gesture but also created a generation of proselyting teachers. (At least where I am from.)

My mother-in-law is an Apple zealot, which doesn't help my opinion of it but even before I knew her, I preferred something I could pull the guts out of and play with if I wanted to change something or something went wrong. I am cheap too.

*Please don't take that second last sentence out of context.

I'm sure you can do everything you can with a Windows PC, you just have to adjust your thinking (which I can't do, so won't buy one).

Brand is all about Marketing hype.

Marketing hype represents much of what is wrong with modern consumer society.
